Sussex Stronghold
Project
I was asked to develop a brand identity for a new business of a local builder who wanted to start out on their own.
I delivered logo ID, mascot, unique typographic pairings, branded collateral and signage and a website.

The logo
The brief was simple, they wanted a smart simple monogram that would incorporate a house as the main object, and the name Sussex Stronghold was already decided upon.
I did deliver what they wanted, but I felt it wasn’t strong enough, so when developing the brand identity I put forward three distinct options with a different positioning and messaging. Ultimately they went with the most out there option, using a brand mascot to make them really stand out, and took a bit of explaining to get there. I suggested that the mascot wouldn’t be their logo, but to support the typeset ID, and that positioning the brand like this will make you come across friendly, confident and modern.
Logo development
Option one was what they were originally thinking, option two was a bolder solid ID - a nod to construction with the subtle motifs and shortening the name down.
